Arsenal have reportedly won the race to sign Lille defender Gabriel Magalhaes.

A number of clubs were said to be chasing the 22-year-old who has been touted as one of the best prospects in Europe.

They are said to have agreed a £22million deal for Gabriel, who impressed with Lille in the shortened Ligue 1 season.Arsenal move for Atletico Madrid midfielder Thomas Partey hinges on the club selling some of their current players.

Sky Sports report the Gunners are still actively pursuing Partey but need to drum up funds to land him.

But the club are also looking into the potential exits of Henrikh Mkhitaryan, Mohamed Elneny, Lucas Torreira, Ainsley Maitland-Niles and Sead Kolasinac. Here's the latest on Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang’s new contract.

Arsenal are reportedly drawing up the formal paperwork for Aubameyang’s new deal.

According to the Daily Mail, the 31-year-old Gunners captain has verbally agreed to sign a new three-year deal worth £250,000-per-week.

The report adds that the finishing touches on the striker’s contract are being prepared by Arsenal chiefs ahead of his return to pre-season training.

Aubameyang is still on holiday which is also holding up the confirmation as Arsenal want to film an elaborate announcement video.Ex-Arsenal forward Lukas Podolski has slammed the criticism faced by his former Germany teammate Mesut Ozil.

He told the Athletic: “He's good enough (to be their main man) with support from the coach and the team, but something has happened with the club, you can feel that.

“Is he in a disagreement with the club? When I talk to him, we don't want to talk to him about that kind of stuff.

“It's his situation, him and his agent have to deal with that.

“He's a good character — he's not an a******. He doesn't do interviews where he speaks badly of his team-mates or of Arsenal and it's a shame we have this situation because everyone is losing.

“Ozil is sat in the stands, Arsenal are paying him and there is no winner.”Arsenal are reportedly edging closer to signing the Lille defender Gabriel Magalhaes.

The Times claim the Gunners have agreed personal terms with the Brazilian.

And the two clubs are now making progress in discussions over the fee with Lille believed to be around £27million.

The Times add that Everton, who have also been linked with Magalhaes, have dropped out of the race.Arsenal are set to sign former Tottenham youngster Jonathan Dinzeyi.

According to The Athletic, the 20-year-old central defender will join the Gunners after his release by Spurs last month.

Dinzeyi was capped by England at Under-18 level but never made a first-team appearance for Jose Mourinho's side.

His signing is said to be part of a recruitment drive by Arsenal to add promising 'development players' to their ranks.

Tim Akinola, a 19-year-old midfielder, has also recently joined the club after being released by Huddersfield.

Pierre-Emerick Aubemayang has agreed a new Arsenal contract.

Aubameyang's previous deal was due to expire at the end of next season, and tying him to an extension has been Mikel Arteta's priority since the end of last season.

The 31-year-old's new contract is set to see him earn £250,000-a-week – a significant upgrade on his previous £180,000 weekly salary.

Lille defender Gabriel Magalhaes also looks to be closing in on a move to the club.

The 22-year-old centre-back – valued at around €30m (£27m) – is said to favour a switch to the Gunners over Everton and Napoli.

And his father, Marcelo, has fuelled speculation he is Arsenal-bound by liking an Instagram post which suggested an agreement has been reached with the north Londoners over a deal for Gabriel.

Meanwhile, talks are ongoing between Arsenal and Real Madrid over Dani Ceballos.

Mikel Arteta wants to secure another loan deal for the midfielder, with Ceballos believed to be keen to stay.

And finally, former Arsenal boss Arsene Wenger could be in line for a return to management.

It has been claimed that the 70-year-old Frenchman has approached the Dutch Football Association (KNVB) about the possibility of succeeding Barcelona-bound Ronald Koeman as Netherlands manager.

Wenger, whose 22-year reign Arsenal boss ended in May 2018, is currently working as the head of global football development at FIFA.

Pierre-Emerick Aubemayang is set to earn £250,000-a-week as part of his bumper new three-year deal at Arsenal, reports claim.

The Gabon international has SIGNED a new contract with the Gunners, talkSPORT has been told.

Aubameyang's previous deal was due to expire at the end of next season, and tying him to an extension has been Mikel Arteta's priority since the end of last season.

According to the Daily Mail, the 31-year-old's new contract will see him earn an extra £70,000-a-week compared to his previous £180,000 weekly salary.

It comes just a week after the Gunners signed 32-year-old Willian on a three-year deal worth £220,000-a-week.Real Madrid have set their sights on Arsenal target Dayot Upamecano as a potential long-term replacement for Sergio Ramos.

The 21-year-old defender delivered a man-of-the-match display as RB Leipzig booted Atletico Madrid out of the Champions League with a 2-1 victory in Lisbon on Thursday night.

He will face the ultimate test against the likes of Neymar and Kylian Mbappe when Leipzig face PSG in the semi-final tomorrow.

The Gunners were very interested in Upamecano last summer and it is understood the player was also keen to join.

However, with his release clause set at 60million euros, Arsenal considered the defender too expensive.

Now, according to AS, Real Madrid have identified the Frenchman as the man to takeover from their long-standing captain.Arsenal have signed 19-year-old midfielder Tim Akinola following his release from Huddersfield last month, according to reports.

Akinola struggled to break into the Terriers' senior team last season and even spent time at non-league outfit Brighouse Town F.C.

However, the Athletic reports that Gunners transfer chiefs Per Mertesacker and Lee Herron decided Akinola was worth a punt without requesting a trial.

He will now play for Arsenal's U23s for upcoming campaign, with the aim of developing into a first-team player in the coming years.

Transfer expert Gianluca Di Marzio has discussed the future of Arsenal striker Alexandre Lacazette amid rumours Juventus are keen on him.

He told Sky Sports: “Lacazette is one of the targets of Juventus as a new forward.

“They need some new strikers, they have to sort the Higuain contract situation, but Lacazette is one of the names.

“Milik, Napoli forward, is another target, Zapata at Atalanta too, Morata, and Jimenez from Wolves.

“They have a very big list – but Lacazette is one of them.

“Juventus do not have a lot of money to spend in this market, so we will see what kind of player they will try to sign.”James Rodriguez has opened the door to a move to the Premier League.

James made just on LaLiga appearance in 2020 having previously been sent on loan to Bayern Munich.

The 29-year-old Colombian said: “Now there are many things, everything is over now, the virus stopped everything.

“There are many clubs that do not have so much money, in a few days I know where I am going.

“I still don't know; Italy, Spain, England. It's a question that I have and I don't know, but I do want to go where I can play, where I can be happy and where I feel that I am loved by everyone.

“I've already played in France, I've been in several good leagues. Only Italy and the Premier League are missing.”Paris Saint-Germain, Borussia Dortmund and Monaco want to sign former Arenal target Wilfried Zaha.

The Gunners came close to landing the Crystal Palace winger last summer but his £80million asking price was too much.

Zaha remains keen to move Palace and Sky Sports claim a number of top European clubs are now interested.

They add Palace are prepared to let him go for less this summer.Arsenal are considering cashing in on Lacazette this summer, talkSPORT has been told.

ESPN's Senior Football Writer, James Olley, has said the striker is one of the only ‘saleable assets’ in the Gunners team as Mikel Arteta looks to raise funds which he can reinvest in his squad.

“I think the club would be open to listening to offers for Lacazette,” he said.

“He’s got two years left on his contract, he’s not been happy there and he was particularly unhappy under Unai Emery.

“I thought after the restart there were signs of life in him again; he was coming deeper to be more involved, he was really helping to link the play well ,and I thought he played well in the FA Cup semi-final and final.

“But he’s 29 and you get into a stage where either you re-sign him or you sell him now while he’s got some negotiation power.

“It would raise some funds; they could get £30m, maybe a little more, for him.

“And Arteta rates Eddie Nketiah very highly; he brought him back from his loan at Leeds and straight into the team, and he was playing ahead of Lacazette at times.

“Personally, I would keep Lacazette for another year, but money is tight for Arsenal and they haven’t got many saleable assets, really, if you look at their squad – Lacazette is one of them.”

Defender Tuanzebe sues former club Man Utd

Former Manchester United defender Axel Tuanzebe is suing the club for alleged negligent medical advice. The 27-year-old, who joined Burnley earlier this month, filed a legal claim with the High Court against United last week. It relates to a period from July 2022 involving an unknown injury and is considered a high value claim, which is understood to be more than £1m. Tuanzebe was out for 195 days in his final season at the club before he was loaned to Stoke in January 2023, where he made just five appearances. He joined the club when he was eight, making his debut in 2017, and played 37 times for them before leaving in the summer of 2023, joining Ipswich as a free agent that September. The right-back captained United at every level and his final appearance for the club was in the 2021 Europa League final loss to Villarreal, where he scored in the shootout as they lost 11-10 on penalties. The former England Under-21 international - who now represents DR Congo - also had thr...

WRU considers cutting up to two regional teams

The Welsh Rugby Union is considering halving the number of regions in Wales as part of a new domestic structure by the 2027-28 season. The governing body says it is entering a formal consultation with the Professional Rugby Board (PRB) and could reduce the number of regions to three or even two. In a statement, the WRU said the current system is failing and is unsustainable, having already confirmed it does not intend to continue equally funding four professional teams in the men's game. Cardiff, Dragons, Ospreys and Scarlets are the four current sides, with the WRU saying it wants a "more radical" strategy to be completed by October. The Union said it would consult on a reduction to three or two regions to ensure Wales has "teams that can compete" at the top of the professional game. The shake-up also comes after the men's side suffered its worst season with nine defeats in 10 games that drew a total losing sequence of 18 matches, a run that onl...
